Past Grand Jurors Association, San Diego

Promotes the continuity of effort by succeeding grand juries in order to increase the effectiveness of the grand jury system; Study and make recommendations with regard to local, civic, governmental and institutional affairs; Encourage and otherwise assist in efforts directed toward the betterment of the communities of San Diego County; Involve it in such other activities deemed by the Association to be in the public interest; Maintain personal contact of past grand jurors through opportunities for interaction at Association meetings and activities. 
 
Membership:  Any person who has served as a member of a regular San Diego County Grand Jury and who has paid current Association dues shall be a member.  Any person who resigned or was removed for cause by Action of the Court, or who served solely as a member of any criminal grand jury shall not be eligible.
 
Each month we invite speakers from a vast local, civic, governmental and institutional agencies to come speak at our monthly association meetings. All current and past grand jurors, or invited guests, are welcome to join us for monthly luncheon and guest speaker meeting, first Wednesday of each month. Beginning in August 2021, we will be resuming in person meetings at Hunter Steakhouse.  We want to thank all of our members who attended all of our virtual meetings as well as all of our great speakers.  If you would like to contact us regarding our association or for information regarding our associaton meetings, please "click" on the  "Contact Us" tab and send us a message.

MONTHLY ASSOCIATION SPEAKERS

March 3, 2021 - Michael Vu, San Diego County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer. 

Our March speaker was Michael Vu.  He provided a vast of information regarding the elections and his new position as the San Diego County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer with all the new changes in San Diego County.  Thank you Mr. Vu for joining our luncheon and as always, thank you for your dedication to the resdients of the County of San Diego.

April 7, 2021 - Raul Campillo, City of San Diego Council member District 7

Our April speaker was Raul Campillo.  He provided updates for the  San Diego City  including the 7th Council District. He also provided his history of living in San Diego and his career giving us a visual image of his impressive resume.  We thank Mr. Campillo for taking on the issues currently confronting the city and serving the people.

 

May 5, 2021 - Cheryl Wilson, the CEO of St. Paul’s Senior Homes and Services

Our May speaker was Cheryl Wilson, she provided a vast infomration about Long Term Senior Living and Skilled Nursing facilities and their outcomes relative to Covid-19. St. Paul’s Senior Services has been caring for San Diego seniors since 1960. Services include independent living, assisted living and personal care, memory care, medical oversight, and life enrichment.  Located throughout San Diego, St. Paul’s provides affordable senior living communities in a non-denominational environment .

June 2, 2021 - Andrew Strong, Director, Office of Equity & Racial Justice, County of San Diego

After spending nine years in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman before settling in San Diego. Andrew joined the county in the human resources department and was promoted into key leadership positions, including chief of staff of the Chief Administrative Office, which implements the policy directives of the board and manages the day-to-day operations of the county.

September 1, 2021 - Judge Alksne, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court
